DeskBug is a light-weight file/link launching application that sits on your Desktop.
It literally resembles a bug sitting on your Desktop that you can drag around with the mouse. A drop-menu will launch when right-clicked.
You can add executable or link files to the program for quick launch in the future. You can also change the small graphic that appears on the Desktop to something else you'd prefer to have there.
