Dns Angel is a tool you can use to help prevent children from viewing inappropriate websites.
Essentially, the tool uses family friendly DNS IPs, which means that if your child attempts to visit an inappropriate webpage (adult content primarily), then the DNS server won't resolve the IP and the website will not load.
Remember that this won't block everything, but it should block an extensive amount of content. You can easily restore default settings.
