Limit Microphone Volume is a simple useful app that can prevent applications from increasing the microphone volume over a maximum value.

It sits in the system tray and you can use it to set an upper limit for microphone volume on your system that applications cannot increase. Sometimes apps set the mic volume too high and your recordings sound too loud, or you sound too loud to individuals on the other side of a conference call.
